UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI’i — HILO

The King’s Hawaiian Showcase of Talents brings together 100 top Native Hawaiian football players (ages 15–18) from Hawai‘i and the diaspora for competition, collegiate scouting, and cultural connection. The event will be hosted on the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Campus June 2-4 & June 6-8, 2025.

Players and ʻohana will participate in Ana Pikoʻu Hawaiʻi – Hawaiian Identity classes, led by Dr. Kekoa Harman, Professor at UH Hilo’s College of Hawaiian Language, and Pelehonuamea Harman, UH Hilo’s Director of Native Hawaiian Engagement.

Community and visitors are welcomed to watch matches and training sessions as well as attend our Ho‘ōla ‘Ohana Pilina presentation.

More than a showcase this event will help shape a brighter future for Native Hawaiian youth and the lāhui by:

Fostering Academic Excellence and supporting pathways to higher education
Providing Pathways to Professional Football and economic empowerment
Enhancing Mental and Emotional Well-Being of Hawaiian youth

MOKU O KEAWE

The island of Hawai‘i, also known as Hawai‘i Island, stands as the largest and youngest among the Hawaiian Islands. Affectionately it is called Moku o Keawe, honoring Keawe‘īkekahiali‘iokamoku, a revered chief of the 17th century, well loved for his prosperous and peaceful reign.

It was on this island that Kamehameha I, Hawai‘i’s first King, drew his first breath in Kohala, in year 1758. By 1810, the famed prophecy was fulfilled, as Kamehameha conquered the chiefdoms of Maui, O‘ahu, and Kaua‘i, unifying the islands under his absolute rule, Kō Hawai‘i Pae ‘Āina, or the lands belonging to Hawai‘i.

As ambassadors of Hawaiian Football, we extend a warm welcome to Moku o Keawe a me Kō Hawai‘i Nei Pae ‘Āina — our beloved Hawai‘i and Hawaiian Islands.
